Deep in the riverside forest, a young female monkey wandered near a fishing area, curious about the shiny objects left behind by humans. Sadly, curiosity turned into tragedy when she bit into a piece of bait attached to a hidden fishhook. In an instant, the sharp metal pierced through her mouth, lodging deep in her cheek. The pain was immediate and unbearable. She screamed and thrashed wildly, trying to remove it with her hands, but only made it worse.
For hours, she struggled in agony. Blood dripped slowly from her mouth, and her strength began to fade. She couldn’t eat, couldn’t drink, and every movement caused her more pain. Other monkeys watched helplessly, unable to understand what was happening to her. The hook was tightly embedded, and she was growing weaker with each passing moment.
Fortunately, a group of wildlife volunteers patrolling the area heard her cries. Following the sound, they found the suffering monkey crouched under a tree, shaking and bleeding. Her eyes were full of terror and desperation. Carefully and calmly, they surrounded her and managed to catch her without causing more harm.
At the rescue center, the medical team worked quickly. The fishhook was carefully removed using surgical tools. It had caused a deep wound, but thankfully, no vital parts were damaged. The monkey was given antibiotics, pain relief, and nourishing food.
She is now recovering in a safe and quiet place, under gentle care. Though still scared, her condition is improving, and she is slowly learning to trust again. This painful incident reminds us how dangerous human litter can be for wildlife—and how much difference a rescue can make.
