Polly stood in the middle of the living room, her tiny fists clenched in frustration. Her younger sister, Bella, sat on the floor giggling, completely oblivious to the struggle Polly was facing.
“Hold still!” Polly demanded, her face scrunched with determination.
“I’m trying!” Bella squealed, wiggling in place.
It had all started when Bella got her head stuck in the hole of their plastic playhouse. It seemed funny at first—until Polly realized she had no idea how to get her little sister out.
With a deep breath, Polly wrapped her arms around Bella’s head and pulled. Nothing. She tried twisting it gently. Still stuck. Bella, for her part, wasn’t the least bit concerned. She hummed a tune, tapping her fingers on the floor.
“You’re not even helping!” Polly groaned.
“I like it here,” Bella replied, giggling.
Polly stomped her foot. She knew she couldn’t just leave her there. Mom would be so mad. With a new plan in mind, she grabbed a bottle of lotion from the nearby table and smeared it all around Bella’s neck.
“Okay, one more time!” Polly yanked as Bella pushed, and with a loud POP, Bella tumbled backward, free at last.
Bella burst into laughter, rubbing her head. “That was fun!”
Polly, panting, wiped her forehead. “Never again!”
But knowing Bella, Polly had a feeling this wouldn’t be the last time she found herself in such a ridiculous struggle.
